Volunteer Opportunities
RESOLVE of Ohio is a volunteer organization. Time spent helping RESOLVE benefits you
and others struggling with infertility. Chapter programs and services would not exist if
it were not for volunteers. Please consider donating a couple of hours a month toward
making our organization more successful, and make some new friends in the process.

Job Descriptions
Work on Monthly Educational Meetings
Local Publicity Volunteer (position
available at most site locations) Advertise Educational and support meetings in
local newspapers. Distribute flyers to local Doctor offices and other related
professionals. Assist with the development of flyers as necessary
Librarian Librarian (position available at most
site locations) - Arrive half an hour early at the monthly meetings and to set up display
of the library information. Maintain library for member use, responsible for check-out and
return of books at monthly meetings. Responsible for sending out overdue notices.
Responsible for displaying and maintaining free literature for non-members. Also
responsible for purchase of new books and getting other resource materials for the
library.
Educational Hostess Educational Hostess (position
available at all site locations) - Start the meeting, introduce RESOLVE, benefits of
RESOLVE, make announcements, introduce speaker(s), monitor time, arrange to have
refreshments brought in at the monthly meetings and set up on refreshment table. Typical
items include soft drinks, ice, coffee, napkins, cookies, etc. per month.
Educational Coordinator Educational Coordinator - Contacts
and schedules potential speakers for monthly meetings, mails confirmation letter with
guidelines, arranges for specific equipment, creates flyers announcing educational events,
and sends Thank You notes to all speakers.
Work on Monthly Newsletter
Write Articles - Write an article
(personal story, poem, letter to the editor, etc.)
Book Reviews -
read new books regarding infertility and adoption related issues and write a review.

on Outreach Programs
HelpLine Coordinator - Change
greeting once a month on the voice mail system by giving a brief description of RESOLVE's
upcoming activities, make sure HelpLine volunteers have materials to send callers, inform
volunteers of HelpLine updates from National, sets schedule for volunteers to pick up
messages, contacts answering service when operational problems occur and trains new
voicemail HelpLine volunteers.
HelpLine Volunteer - Pick up
incoming messages from voicemail system. Return calls and mail out info to callers as
requested. Attend Voicemail HelpLine Volunteer training before beginning.
Distributing Materials to Doctors' Offices
- maintain stock of RESOLVE brochures and deliver special flyers to doctors' waiting
rooms.
Site Coordinator
Coordinates all activity at local site including: educational meetings, peer support
groups, the helpline, and any other local activity. This Volunteer is a board member
and attends quarterly board meetings. Prepares quarterly report.
Publicity Coordinator Publicity Coordinator
- Develop a
media mailing list, network with related organizations (New Roots, etc.), prepare press
releases, place announcements in local papers and participate in National Infertility
Awareness Week. This Volunteer is a board member and attends quarterly board
meetings. Prepares quarterly report.
Assistant Site Coordinator
Assists site coordinator as needed.
Peer Support Hostess -
Arranges
meeting place and sets the schedule for group meetings, arranges for refreshments at the
meetings, maintains the attendance roster, uses fliers to promote and publicize the
meetings and facilitates the sharing at the meetings.
Board Positions
Board positions are for a 1 year.
A Board Member is responsible for policy and direction of the corporation.
Attends quarterly board meetings and assists in special projects throughout the
year. Board positions are always good for your resume!
President- Implement programs and oversees the general
operation for local Ohio chapter. Has the authority to make important Chapter
decisions. Supports all aspects of the organization as needed. (this is a
two year term) The President is the primary liaison between the Chapter and
National for purposes of announcements, status reporting, and disseminating
information from National. The President will need to handle occasional
escalations from members or professionals on RESOLVE (rarely). Coordinates
volunteers via periodic meetings (usually quarterly) to ensure operations of the
site continue.
Secretary- Responsible for updating Chapter documents (HelpLine
Guide, Chapter Manual, etc.) as needed when the board modifies policies. Takes
minutes at board meetings (quarterly), publishes the minutes and follows-up on
any action items assigned.
Fundraising Chairperson- Identifies and organizes
fundraising opportunities for Resolve of Ohio, such as raffles or silent
auctions at our conference, Wine Tasting Event, etc. May also identify grant
resources in the community and oversee grant applications and planning events.
Works with site coordinators to help suggest local fundraising activities
(walk-a-thons, Entertainment books, etc)
Membership Chairperson-
Responsible for organizing volunteers to
cover the state HelpLine, makes sure that HelpLine logs are collected from all
volunteers and sent to the Membership chairperson for logging. Works with site
coordinators to get local HelpLine volunteers for the sites.
Conference and Educationals Chairperson- Identifies
topics of interest for the monthly public education meetings led by Resolve
therapists and other professionals; organizes the schedule of meetings for
posting in the newsletter and website; oversees the content development of the
RESOLVE of Ohio Fall Conference and in charge of getting committees for this
conference.
Cincinnati Coordinator- Coordinates all activity at local
site including: educational meetings, peer support groups, the Helpline, and any
other local activity. Responsible that the facility be set-up, greeting and
registering attendees, introducing Speaker and answering any RESOLVE related
questions at monthly educational meetings.
Cleveland Coordinator- Coordinates all activity at local
site including: educational meetings, peer support groups, the Helpline, and any
other local activity. Responsible that the facility be set-up, greeting and
registering attendees, introducing Speaker and answering any RESOLVE related
questions at monthly educational meetings.
